I recently decided to stand for election as a Common Councillor for the Farringdon Within ward of The City of London.
If you're interested in learning about my candidacy or looking for election or Ward information, I have set up a page for that here.
My professional background ...
I currently work in global clinical trials as a research physician at Immunocore. I previously practiced as an eye surgeon (ophthalmologist) in the NHS both in Scotland and England and also in Phase I clinical trials at a CRO in London. I aim to develop the next generations of medicines for patients I will never meet. I studied at the University of Edinburgh and the University of Dundee in Scotland, and I am always interested to talk to those interested in a career as a medic or in the biopharma industry about medical school and career paths.
My interests...
During my spare time I am an active reader, writer, rugby coach, sailor, and traveler.
I am a dedicated member of the Apothecaries livery company in The City of London, an organization founded in 1617 that continues to this day in supporting the education of medical and pharmacy students in the United Kingdom.
I am also active in the Guild of Young Freemen, a volunteer organization of more than 250 young professionals in London that is dedicated to engaging young people with an interest in the heritage and traditions of the City.
